I am so disgusted by the blatant misogyny and rewarding an abuse narrative that this show is doing, and it seems the writers have no CONCEPT of the fact that that’s what they’ve written, that this undermines any message about morality, about true sacrifice, about love overcoming obstacles. The worst, most irredeemable character in the show is being rewarded for being terrible, all his bad actions somehow simultaneously acknowledged AND erased by Elena (who is unrecognizable to me as a character now) going “lol you’re a terrible disgusting person but oops I love you anyway.” He has never been punished for the misery he has sown, and now we’re supposed to celebrate that he gets happiness? No.

I hope he can see the thing he destroyed, I hope he can see the way she is looking at Stefan and smiling.. and how happy she was with him and as a human, when Damon was obviously the only fucking person in Mystic Falls that couldn’t see how miserable she was as a vampire, simply because she was sired to him and was following him like a puppy. I hope Damon can see that he destroyed their relationship just because he was fucking selfish and wanted his bro’s girl for himself all over again, he couldn’t just let her be happy with Stefan. And also, I hope he realizes that she never looked at him the way she is looking at Stefan on that picture.
